Maria Spyraki aka Spy_lab (b. 1977) is a self-taught contemporary visual artist, currently living and working in Athens, Greece with a wide range of work in painting and sculpture. She has studied architecture in London back in 1997.
She believes that art is social, belongs to everyone, that’s why graffiti is her favorite art expression.Spray as a medium gives her freedom, fluidity and the sense of endless. Her art could be considered diagrammatic and linear, while she always encapsulates symbols from our everyday life that create a background of meanings and a foreground of feelings.
Her first solo exhibition took place in Athens, 2017 and has participated in numerous group exhibitions. She has collaborated with the Municipality of Athens for the artistic intervention of the Historical Triangle of the Center of Athens while her paintings have been exhibited at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
She is participating in the The Crow’s Nest Gallery London summer show exhibition with two mixed media collage paintings.
She is collaborating with Kapopoulos Fine Arts in Athens, The Art Dose in GLyfada, Greece.
