"Euaggelos Kapopoulos" Auction House

The Auction House “Euaggelos Kapopoulos” was founded in 1991. Since its first actions it shaped a new landscape in the art market of our country, by bringing an air of renewal, while at the same time it stimulated the interest around the Greek paintings of the 20th and 19th century. With its auctions it supported the new generation of appreciable painters of our country, and through careful choices of art works it managed to elect the continuity between the past, the present and the future of Greek painting. As a result a relationship of trust with the purchasing public was founded, as well as with distinguished modern Greek painters, through the workshop of whom emanate most of the works auctioned. All the paintings are always accompanied by certificates of genuineness, as the Gallery “Euaggelos Kapopoulos” wants to maintain and to extend its relation with the Greek filotechnon public, developing a relation of reciprocal confidence.
The past fifteen years, the Euaggelos Kapopoulos modern house of auctions has entrusted Greek painting and has decisively contributed to the creation of a trusted art market in Greece and abroad. The two subsidiary exhibition houses of Euaggelos Kapopoulos Gallery are found in Varkiza, where selectively auctions take place and in Monastiraki, where each Sunday midday 12.00-3.00 the public has the opportunity to come in contact with Greek paintings, to acquire work of undeniable artistic value, and to select also furniture, sculptures and objects of art.
The Gallery House “Euaggelos Kapopoulos” has organised very successful auctions in hotels, like Chandris, Hilton, Grande Bretagne, while each year continues to organise auctions with gravity and responsibility in Theoxenia Palace (Kifisia) in Divani Caravel and in Divani Apollon Pallas. The Gallery has established a unique event of auctions in islands as Syros and Paros, that have become an institution for the past six years (since 2000) allowing Greek Art to travel and to become available throughout Greece, even outside Athens.
The works auctioned in the Gallery, are signed by important Greeks of dissemination as Tzon Christoforou and Marios Prasinos, as well as by Tsigkos, Gaitis, Eggonopoulos, Argyrakis, Kessanlis, Sthathis, Fasianos, Mytaras, Karas, Makroulakis, Drougkas, Manolidis, Pantaleon, Geros, Zouni, Karabouzi, Stefanou, Sorogkas, Sklavos, but also by distinguished foreign artists Arman, Romper Kompas etc.

We are the only Greek auction house that proceeded in the organisation of valid auctions and opened the horizons of Greek market abroad.”
